ESI Registration

Employee State Insurance Corporation or ESIC is self-financing social security and medical insurance scheme that provides medical benefits, retirement coverage, unemployment benefits, maternity benefits, disability benefits and various other benefits such as funeral costs, free supply of physical aids, etc. to employees and their families.ESI is an independent body under the Government of India's Ministry of Labour and Employment. Employee State Insurance (ESI) is a social security and health insurance program for Indian employees.

Factory or Establishments with 10 or more workers drawing up a salary of up to Rs.15,000 a month are required to be enrolled with ESIC under the 1948 ESI Act. The benefits offered by the scheme are financed with the contribution provided by the employees and employers. This contribution is collected in the way of premiums at a fixed rate from the salaries of the employees and employers. At present, covered employees owe 1.75 percent of the salary to the ESIC and employers owe 4.75 percent of the salaries paid to their employees. The state government also pays 1/8th share of medical care expenses.

All Establishments and factories with more than 10 workers are expected to apply within 15 days of the ESI Act for ESI registration, 1948 being applicable to them. Taxxinn helps you get ESI registration one all over India.
